Site Visit – Cabin Hill, Belfast

Acquired by Campbell College in 1925 as their preparatory school, a house at Cabin Hill dates back to 1786, although the main house standing today was built in 1860 and extended in 1902. Having seen a rich and vibrant history as a fine house and latter school, Cabin Hill now sits derelict and in a sad state of decay. I had the fortune to visit the site in 2005/6 and again in 2016. I have been able to document this modern decay in a series of merged photographs depicting the buildings as they stood at the close of the school, and now as they fall prey to the elements (and vandals).
