One of the more modern items in my collection is this clean example of what I believe is an early Bulgarian AK-47 bayonet, complete with scabbard. The pattern of this bayonet is similar to the original Soviet designs, but has not been stamped with a serial number. The bayonet is new, and appears very dull; my assumption being that when issued the soldier would have sharpened the blade. The bayonet is fitted with a deep red bakelite two-piece handle, held onto the pommel with two screws.
The scabbard is made from pressed and blued steel and fitted with a webbing belt loop and leather retaining strap.
